A Perfect Game! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review

It’s been a couple of weeks since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came out, so it’s time to skydive into Hyrule and talk about it. SPOILER ALERT: It’s Beyond Astonishing! 

When it comes to video games, it’s not that difficult to find frustrating stuff in the gameplay, like errors, glitches, terrible stories, and so on. But when writing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom review, no matter how hard I tried or how much I looked, I couldn’t find one thing that would make me want to put this game away. 

Unleash Your Creativity in Hyrule

The Tears of the Kingdom gameplay is just Perfect. I cannot say anything less than this, The building mechanics are a new addition to the franchise, and I hope it stays forever.

You can build whatever you want; your imagination is the limit. You can explore Hyrule in a Flying ship if you wish to and if you have enough batteries to power it up. I have watched countless players discover innovative ways to explore Hyrule. Some of them even made helicopters to destroy every single enemy they encountered.

The combat mechanics are outstanding, just like in Breath of The Wild. You genuinely feel like a superhuman when playing as The Hero of Legend. The new ways you can fuse your weapons with other materials are a game changer. I totally recommend using this new mechanic if you want to take down the more challenging bosses.

A Sneaky Approach: Navigating Hyrule Castle

If you can manage to get to Hyrule Castle, you can find numerous powerful weapons there you can salvage to be super broken in the early game. Of course, that means you will encounter strong enemies while you climb to the throne room, but stealth is your ally.

Just avoid them, grab the goods, and get out. If you have enough stamina, you can Skydive from the Sky Tower in Lookout Landing, and you won’t need to avoid any enemies since you will fall from the sky directly into the throne room. I suggest you change your Light Orbs for stamina. You will need at least two full wheels to progress later in the game. 20 Light Orbs will do the trick (in case you were wondering how many Light Orbs will get you two full stamina wheels.)

Mastering the Main Temples and Essential Armors

The Main Temples are super fun to play. Each temple has its own theme and puzzles but also its own weather. So I strongly recommend getting the set of armor that protects you from the harsh conditions you will have to face in each temple unless you want to run out of food or die in the process.

Speaking of armor, I suggest getting the climbing armor at the beginning of the game. Also, complete the skydiving trials to get a much-needed skydive armor to make your life easier. Also, look for Sundelions (The Golden flowers that grow up in the Sky Islands); you’ll thank me later. And unlock all of the surface maps by unlocking the Sky Towers.

This way, it will be a lot easier to find villages and interest points in the Tears of the Kingdom video game. Not to mention you can teleport to the towers and reach your location way faster than on foot or using your favorite horse.

Time Travel and Zelda’s Role in the Game

Now let’s talk about the story… if I have to describe it in one word, it would be: Magnificent. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild story was beautifully written, and I didn’t believe they could top that, and Oh Boy… I was so so wrong.

Just like in Ocarina of Time, Time Travel plays a significant role in Tears of The Kingdom but in a very different way. This time is our beloved Princess Zelda, who is sent back to the past to help her Hero in the present because this time.

Ganondorf proves to be too much for Link, breaking the Master Sword and destroying the right arm of the Hero of Legend in the process. All this while being in a very weakened state… So yeah… This Ganondorf is truly the embodiment of Power and Evil.

A Ruthless Ganondorf and the Origins of Hyrule

This time is Zelda, who actually fights in the past to save us and give us a chance to stand against the Demon King. I think this is super cool since Zelda is the reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia. It was finally time to see a more strong and determined Zelda; after all, Link is just a human, the greatest human but a Human nonetheless. 

We witness an even stronger and more ruthless Ganondorf in this game. Also, if you collect all the Dragon tears, you can see the Story behind Hyrule’s origins, his first King and Queen. Of course, you will also learn the origins of this Ganondorf and understand the conflict that is destroying Hyrule in the present.

The Power of the Triforce

What is curious in Tears of The Kingdom and Breath Of The Wild is that the Triforce, the source of the greatest power in Hyrule, has not been obtained by anyone in those games. Nor any Triforce Part has been seen glowing in the Hands of Ganondorf, Link, or Zelda.

Hence you understand that this Ganondorf means serious business when I tell you that he is the most powerful villain we have seen in any of the Zelda Games. But of course, that only means our Princess and our Hero of Legend are the best versions of themselves too.

The Best Zelda Game: A Personal Journey

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom has already won a spot in my top 10 Best Video Games of all Time. It made me laugh, cry and scream out of excitement. I hadn’t felt like this while playing a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time back in 1998 when I was a little kid enjoying his Christmas present.

When I play this game, I feel like a kid again, and to be honest, I can’t see another game winning the Game of the Year Awards in 2023 other than Tears of The Kingdom. 

If I have to give a score for The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom review, It would be 100/100. It’s just Perfect!

Tears of the Kingdom is a masterpiece of a Zelda game. It has everything you could want in a Zelda game: great gameplay, an epic story, and memorable characters. This video game is a masterpiece, and I highly recommend it to any fan of the Zelda series. If you’re looking for a new game to sink your teeth into, I can’t think of a better choice.
