Everything you need to know about The Last of Us series

Next year the series based on one of this generation’s most incredible video games will be released. We are talking about The Last of Us! As gamers, we are very excited by the news and have high expectations after seeing the official trailer published.

It will be one of the most anticipated HBO series, and we will be able to watch it from January 15, 2023. So we are thrilled because we have been waiting to know more about this story for a long time.

Although there is no official information about the plot of the series, it will be about the first game. Most of the scenes in the trailer refer to it, but we are not 100% sure yet.

However, we are being very optimistic because it’s more common to split series down the middle. So the first season will not recreate everything we saw in the first game. The changes will raise expectations for a second season to continue the story.

What is The Last of Us about?

Our theory is that there will be essential changes without altering the main argument. This is also important to keep the attention of gamers who have enjoyed The Last Of Us games many times.

Gamers will be happy with it since Neil Druckmann, who plays the director of the series, also wrote the original story of the video game. We know for sure that he is someone who really cares about his creation. In this way, he and his team will likely respect the video game, which is a masterpiece.

Details that we saw in The Last of Us trailer

Most of the scenes presented in the trailer looked very well (we were hoping for that, as there are successful video game-based movies and series). The cinematography is excellent, and we noticed familiar places that we had seen before in the video game. We also got to see the interaction between Joel and Ellie.

We know that Ellie is the most important piece of the story, and Joel is responsible for taking care of her. In the beginning, she is just a cargo. Then, their relationship evolves as the events occur, and finally, they manage to have a good friendship. So, we saw part of their interaction in the trailer.

During the trailer, we watched the beginning of the video game, where Joel appeared with his daughter, and we saw several well-known characters. Some bring back sad memories, like Sam and Henry, and others give us chills, like the group of cannibals.

We also discovered part of the clickers in what seems to be the museum. We saw the Cordyceps growing on the walls and surrounding people’s bodies on a stair. But, at the end of the trailer, when we thought it was over, they surprised us! We got the chance to see a Bloater, and if you played the video game on a challenging level, you know that this is one of the hardest infected to kill.

Among the known characters presented in the trailer, we discovered new ones. That gives us an idea that there will be some changes in the series. Maybe, they didn’t want to create a faithful copy of the video game, so they changed some elements in this season.

Also, during the trailer, we watched a scene from the DLC of The Last of Us: Left Behind. Thus, we think that some memories of Ellie about important moments with Riley will appear to show us a background of her.

The cast and actors confirmed

The cast includes great actors who have already participated in other important projects. Pedro Pascal will play Joel, and we have seen him in other outstanding series such as Narcos, Game of Thrones, and The Mandalorian

Ellie will be played by actress Bella Ramsey, who has also performed in Game of Thrones. We have also seen her in some episodes of the second season of His Dark Materials.

Other actors who are confirmed and appear in the trailer are Nico Parker (Sarah), Merle Dandridge (Marlene), Anna Torv (Tess), Keivonn Woodard (Sam), and Lamar Johnson (Henry), among others.

What to expect from this series?

Honestly, it is very difficult to predict how the development of this series will be. Yet, it will be a story that will do honor to the game since its creator Neil Druckmann is involved.

A small detail in the trailer shows that they might film another season about the second part of the video game. The producers selected as the soundtrack “Take on Me,” a song that Ellie sings in The Last of Us Part II. So we will have a lot to see from January next year.

This series could be very successful since it is an exciting story that will attract gamers who have already played it. Besides, the post-apocalyptic themes are very catchy to many people, even if they don’t know anything about the video game.
